Amateur Astronomy Club
Welcome! We are the Amateur Astronomy Club located at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida. We are a collection of space loving students who can't help but keep our eyes on the skies. Our club's mission is to spread this love to our fellow students, as well as the surrounding community of Daytona Beach, Florida. Through Open Houses and observations, we believe we can help people discover things not visible to the naked eye and help them to realize that we are just a small part of a big, bright, beautiful universe.

Chair: Sean Smith
A committee within the Amateur Astronomy club that specializes in astrophotography. Includes learning about terminology, equipment, and processing. Occasional research (separate from the Research Committee).
Chair: Lindsay Spence (Temp.)
A committee within the Amateur Astronomy club that specializes in research that the club is interested in or aiding in other students/universities/organizations research.
Everyone has the ability to join all, one, or no committees if they choose!
Events
Dates: Presidents discretion and weather permitting
Observations are mini events that the Amateur Astronomy Club puts on for the students of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to come together and observe planets and stars (weather permitting).
Dates: January 31st, February 28th, March 28th
The Amateur Astronomy Club puts on an Open House for the students of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the public to display the projects the club has been working on, expose more people to astronomy and astrophysics topics, and allow other clubs to do demonstrations of their projects.
Dates: February 15th - 17th
Our camping trip is taking place at Juniper Springs State Park (a dark sky sight). The club brings telescopes so that everyone will have a chance to view the stars. This also gives club members the chance to explore the outdoors!
